In the year 2008 there was a drastic change which was brought in the Indian Car Industry. There were 35 SUVs introduced in that year. Before this the Indian customers didn’t get so many choices whereas SUVs were concerned. The SUV markets has risen after the year 2007 when there were total 3.5 lakh SUVs sold in India.

India has not only welcomed just entry-level utility vehicles like Mahindra Bolero or Tata Sumo Grande but also elegant SUVs like BMW X5 and VX Tiguan. The lifestyle of the Indian people is changing along with increasing economy. SUVs are the best option when it comes to family trips and long drives.

SUV Cars in India This provides varieties to the Indian people who have sedans running on the roads for a long time. Honda CR-V with its stylish look and cozy interiors had attracted many Indians. Two types of engines are available in India, a 2.0-litre i-VTEC that delivers 141 bhp and a 2.4-litre i-VTEC that beats upto 161 bhp. Other SUVs such as Mitsubishi Pajero, Nissan X-Trail and Chevrolet Captiva are also available in India. But, they are not as successful as Honda CR-V, though Chevrolet Captiva seems to be promising.

For the bumpy roads in India, Tata and Mahindra have contributed many SUVs. They are the leaders in this segment. The most successful SUV o Mahindra is Mahindra Scorpio. With its tough look, it was one of the most prominent choices of each car buyer then. Another SUV which gained huge popularity in small towns specially was Tata Safari. Tata Sumo Grande was launched looking at Tata Safari’s success.

Other cars such as Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Tucson and Ford Endeavour are still trying to reach to the masses. Recently, Volvo launched its XC-90 series for buyers are class-loving. There are other SUVs for the people who have exclusive taste, such as BMW X5, Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne SUVs.
